During Martin Luther King week eighth grade students spent a day at Region Ten, each visiting four programs. Students took vital signs in Health Occupations, baked in Food Trades, built stools in Carpentry, welded plant hooks in Metal Fabrication, and dismantled automobiles in Auto Technology. In firefighting, students raced to put on full gear, required for firefighters in emergencies. All twelve programs offered in introduction to technical fields of study. “We take pleasure in offering a hands-on introduction to what students learn at MVR 10,” said Director Barry Lohnes. “The experience tends to restore faith in American education,” Lohnes added. “Seeing students of all abilities so enthused and working in harmony is a scenario that needs to be witnessed by all citizens.”

Maine Vocational Region Ten enrolls three hundred students in twelve technical programs at an expansive campus on Church Road. “Students from diverse communities attend our school, and we seldom observe any type of school rivalry—they tend to leave it at the door,” mentions Assistant Director, John Fossum. “And, when students fulfill our requirements, stable, high paying jobs frequently await.” Residents are encouraged to visit Maine Vocational Region Ten and observe students learning technical skills.
